There is no free self-serve “Yahoo business listing” form that we could find on Yahoo’s own pages in November 2026. Yahoo Search shows organic results generated by Microsoft Bing, may show a standalone local business module, and points business owners in its help center to outside tools for submitting their details. The old Yahoo Local directory, the one older guides tell you to claim, now opens as a home services advice hub. Our take: stop looking for a Yahoo form and fix the sources Yahoo reads from. Make your website, Google Business Profile and Bing Places listing identical and accurate, treat any paid sync service as optional, and distrust any guide that still walks you through “claiming” on local.yahoo.com.

One note on sources before the details. Several Yahoo and Turbify pages refused our fetch tool or rendered their text only inside the page source, so we read them that way, and we say plainly where a page would not open (Yahoo’s old Basic Listings help article is one). Everything about Yahoo below comes from Yahoo’s own help center and Yahoo Local pages, from Turbify’s help center for the product Yahoo names, and from vendor release notes where we say so. Where no official page answers a question, we say that instead of guessing.

Yahoo Business Listing: How Yahoo Local Works Now, illustrated cover

How a business appears on Yahoo in 2026

Yahoo is not one list of businesses. It is a search engine, a set of editorial products and a few partner relationships, and each surface gets its data from somewhere different.

Where you might lookWhat Yahoo’s pages sayWhat you can control
Yahoo Search organic resultsYahoo’s help says results are generated by an algorithm run by Microsoft Bing, and that sites cannot buy better algorithmic ranking from Yahoo or MicrosoftYour website, and how Bing reads and trusts it
Local business listings on a Yahoo results pageThe same page says Yahoo Search may include standalone content modules such as news articles, local business listings or video results, and that these are not placed on the basis of payments to YahooNot directly. Yahoo’s pages do not name the data source
Yahoo Local (local.yahoo.com)An editorial hub: Yahoo’s team reviews and ranks providers in categories such as moving, roofing, plumbing and paintingNothing you can claim. There is no add-your-business form
Paid search ads on YahooYahoo’s help says sites can advertise on Yahoo Search through Microsoft AdvertisingA budget, if you choose to advertise

In practice, your organic presence on Yahoo is mostly your presence on Bing. The local module is real, but its supply chain is not documented on the pages we could open.

What happened to Yahoo Local

If you remember Yahoo Local as a directory where owners claimed a free page, that product is gone in that form. Here is what we saw when we checked on November 6, 2026:

  • local.yahoo.com is now a guide, not a directory. Its title is “Find local service providers and contractors on Yahoo Local” and its description promises trusted providers for moving, roofing, plumbing, painting and pest control, along with expert advice and how-tos. The navigation is Moving, Roofing, Plumbing, Painting and Awards.
  • Providers are picked by Yahoo’s editors. A sample “best plumbers in Dallas” article, dated February 2026, says the Yahoo Local team reviewed dozens of highly rated plumbers, looking at Better Business Bureau ratings, customer feedback and the range of services, then contacted its top four. It also says that if you buy through its links, Yahoo may earn a commission. That is editorial selection, not a listing you create.
  • The old claim address redirects. Older guides still send owners to local.yahoo.com/claim-business.html. When we requested that address on November 6, 2026, it answered with a redirect to the Yahoo Local home page.
  • The old help article no longer opens. Older guides also cite a Yahoo help article on submitting or updating Yahoo Local Basic Listings (article number SLN26672). When we requested it, Yahoo redirected us to its help index instead of an article.

Older third-party guides describe a partnership in which a listing-management vendor handled Yahoo Local claims. One vendor confirms the shift: Yext’s January 2023 release notes say its Yahoo integration for the United States was transitioning from an API to a submission-based one and could no longer support analytics or real-time updates, and its February 2023 notes add that Yahoo was no longer supported in its listings scan tool or API. Treat any guide older than that as describing a different product.

Is there a free Yahoo business listing?

Not a Yahoo-owned one that we could find. What Yahoo’s own article on how it updates search results says is short: search engines constantly crawl and re-index sites, changes can take some time to show up in business listing cards and search results, and you can use a service like Google My Business or Localworks, powered by Turbify, to submit your business information to multiple directories from one place. (Yahoo’s page still uses the old Google name; the product is now Google Business Profile.)

Who supplies Yahoo’s business data?

This is the question behind most searches for “yahoo business directory”, and the honest answer has two layers.

Layer one, documented. Yahoo’s help says all algorithmic results on Yahoo Search are provided by Microsoft Bing, which does not prioritize its own or Yahoo content. If a Yahoo result is wrong, the place to start is the web page or listing that Bing reads.

Layer two, not documented on the pages we could open. Yahoo’s help says local business listings can appear as standalone modules and that payment does not buy placement in them. It does not say which provider supplies those records, and its update article names Google and Localworks only as services you can use to submit data. We found no Yahoo page naming a data partner, so we do not name one. If another guide states a partner as fact, ask for the page that says so.

What you can say with confidence is how the wider ecosystem behaves. Turbify’s help article on cancelling Localworks explains that publishers use multiple data sources, that Localworks is often the single largest direct source of data for a publisher, and that data aggregators and crowdsourced content fill the gaps. That describes publishers in general, not Yahoo specifically, but it is the reason one accurate record in many places beats one record in one place. Our explainer on what data aggregators are covers the idea.

Localworks by Turbify: what its own pages say

Because Yahoo’s help names it, Localworks is the one subscription product worth understanding. All of this is from Turbify’s help center, not from us.

  • What it is. Turbify says Localworks is a service that lets you submit listing information to multiple directories from a single place, and that it also reports listing performance, status, reviews and ratings. Its help center answers “Is Localworks the same as Yahoo Local?” with a plain no: Yahoo is one of the directories the information is submitted to, and the number of directories depends on the package.
  • Checking status. In the dashboard, the Networks page lists the directories included, which products are enabled for each and the status of your listing on each.
  • Category restrictions. Turbify says some directories restrict listings for garage and overhead doors, locksmiths and movers. Restricted listings show as Unavailable in the dashboard, with the reason that the partner does not support your business type.
  • Cancelling. Turbify says that when you cancel it stops calling the publishers’ systems on your behalf, may make one final call to say the listing is no longer managed through Localworks, and never sends old data or tries to revert a listing. It adds that data can then change over time as publishers lean on aggregators and user-generated content, and that there is no one-time permanent fix for a listing.

How to get found on Yahoo: a practical order of work

  1. Search for yourself on Yahoo. Try your exact business name plus city, then your phone number. Note what appears and what is wrong. Do not skip this; it tells you which source to fix.
  2. Make your website the cleanest source. Put the exact name, address and phone number you want everywhere in the page text, in your footer and in local business schema. Bing reads the web page first.
  3. Fix Google Business Profile. It is free, Yahoo’s own help names it, and most other data sources compare themselves to it.
  4. Claim Bing Places. Because Bing generates Yahoo’s organic results, a verified Bing listing is the nearest thing to a Yahoo lever you actually control. Yahoo’s pages do not say Bing Places feeds the local module, so treat this as good practice, not a guaranteed mechanism.
  5. Make the big directories agree. Run the free NAP checker to compare what the open web says about you, then correct the mismatches. Our guides to fixing NAP inconsistency and updating a phone number everywhere show how.
  6. Decide on a sync service last. If you maintain many locations and want one dashboard, price Localworks or its alternatives against the time saved. If you have one location, the free steps above usually do the job.
  7. Allow time. Yahoo says changes take some time to appear in business listing cards and results. For a result whose source page was removed, Yahoo says its refresh can take up to 10 to 12 weeks.

How to edit or remove a wrong Yahoo result

You cannot edit a Yahoo listing, because there is no owner dashboard on Yahoo’s side that we could find. You change the source.

  • Wrong details in a search result. Yahoo’s help on removing search results says Yahoo Search displays web results from around the internet and that Yahoo has no control over what is published outside the Yahoo network. It recommends contacting the site’s owner, content provider or domain provider first.
  • How long it takes. After a non-Yahoo site updates or unpublishes the content, Yahoo says Search reflects the change after its next content refresh cycle, up to 10 to 12 weeks. A result for a page that no longer exists is removed automatically in the next refresh.
  • Personal information. If a page publishes personally identifiable information, such as a social security or credit card number, Yahoo says it may be able to remove it from its results and points to its support options. A business address and phone number are not that category.
  • A duplicate or old listing elsewhere. Find it and fix it at the source, as in our guide to finding and fixing duplicate listings. If the business moved or closed, see closed or moved business listings.

Reviews and Yahoo

The Yahoo pages we could open describe no review feature that a business owner manages; Yahoo Local’s articles are written by Yahoo’s team. Put review effort where reviews are collected: review sites for business, how to get more Google reviews and the free review link generator.

Does a Yahoo business listing help local SEO?

Be careful with any claim here. There is no Yahoo-owned listing to build, and no independent source we know of publishes Yahoo as a confirmed ranking factor for Google. What is defensible is narrower.

First, Yahoo’s organic results come from Bing, so being readable and trusted on Bing is the practical Yahoo strategy. Second, the same discipline helps everywhere: one name, address and phone number, repeated exactly, across your site and the major directories. Consistent records are how search engines and AI assistants decide that a business is real and where it is, which is the idea behind what a citation is. Judge any effect weeks later, since Yahoo’s help says updates lag.

Alternatives to chasing a Yahoo listing

  • Google Business Profile and Bing Places. The free pair that Yahoo’s help and Microsoft’s own pages point toward.
  • The big general directories. Yellow Pages and MapQuest each hold their own copy of your details, as do the other sites in our data aggregators comparison.
  • Your country and industry list. The local citation finder ranks the directories for your market and industry.
  • Phone-first directories. If your problem is callers finding the wrong number, our guide to 411 business listings covers directory assistance and the Canadian 411 sites.
  • Review and trust profiles. BBB is one Yahoo’s own editors cite when they rate providers.

Yahoo in our catalog

Local Yahoo (local.yahoo.com) is in our directory catalog but marked inactive, which fits what we found: there is no listing form to point a customer at.

Common mistakes with Yahoo listings

  • Following a guide from before 2023. Pages that tell you to claim a free page on local.yahoo.com describe a product that no longer opens that way.
  • Paying to “get on Yahoo”. None of the Yahoo pages we read sells a listing. Localworks is a sync service for many directories, not a purchase that guarantees a Yahoo result.
  • Fixing only one source. A wrong phone number on your website, an old directory or a stale profile will keep coming back. Fix them together.
  • Trusting unsolicited calls. Be wary of anyone who phones to “verify” or “upgrade” a Yahoo or directory listing for a fee. Make changes only by signing in to the real service yourself.

Short checklist

  • Search Yahoo for your name, city and phone number and note what is wrong.
  • Make your website the exact source of truth, then fix Google Business Profile and Bing Places.
  • Run the free NAP checker, fix mismatches, and re-check Yahoo after a few weeks.

The free steps above are the part that moves Yahoo’s results; the local citation finder covers the wider directory list.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free Yahoo business listing?

Not as a self-serve form that we could find on Yahoo's own pages in November 2026. Yahoo's help center tells business owners to use a service such as Google My Business (now Google Business Profile) or Localworks, powered by Turbify, to submit their details to multiple directories from one place. Google says you can add or claim a Business Profile at no charge and Microsoft calls Bing Places a free platform, so the free route is to get those two right. Localworks is a subscription service: Turbify's pages show a plan chooser but no prices, so check its checkout screen.

How do I add my business to Yahoo?

You do not add it to Yahoo directly. Yahoo's help pages say Yahoo Search results are generated by an algorithm run by Microsoft Bing, and that Yahoo may also show standalone modules such as local business listings. Yahoo does not publish who feeds that local module on the pages we could open, so the practical steps are to keep your website, Google Business Profile and Bing Places listing accurate and give search engines time to refresh.

Is Yahoo Local still a business directory?

Not in the form older guides describe. When we opened local.yahoo.com on November 6, 2026 it presented itself as a hub for finding local service providers in categories such as moving, roofing, plumbing and painting, with Yahoo-written advice and reviews. The old claim-business address that older guides cite redirected to the home page, and the old Yahoo help article on Yahoo Local Basic Listings redirected to Yahoo's help index. We found no claim or add-your-business form.

Who supplies the business information Yahoo shows?

Yahoo's help center says all algorithmic results on Yahoo Search are provided by Microsoft Bing. It also says Yahoo may show standalone modules, including local business listings, which are not placed on the basis of payments to Yahoo. The pages we read do not name the data source behind that local module, and we will not guess. Yahoo's own article on listing updates names Google and Localworks as services that can submit your details.

How do I fix or remove a wrong Yahoo listing?

Yahoo says it has no control over what is published outside the Yahoo network and recommends first contacting the owner of the website the result comes from. After that site updates or removes the content, Yahoo Search reflects it after its next content refresh, which can take up to 10 to 12 weeks. If personally identifiable information is published, Yahoo says it may be able to remove it from its results, and you would use its support options. Fix your own sources first.

Do I need Localworks or Turbify to be on Yahoo?

No page we read says you must. Turbify's help center says Localworks submits listing information to multiple directories, that Yahoo is one of them, and that the number of directories depends on the package, from 7 to 60 plus on one help page and 100 plus on its product page. Turbify's page did not show a price. It is an optional paid sync service, not a requirement for appearing in Yahoo Search.

Does a Yahoo listing help local SEO?

There is no Yahoo-owned listing you can build today, so the question becomes whether accurate data helps. It does as a consistency signal: because Bing generates Yahoo's organic results, a site and listings that Bing can read and trust matter, and the same details should match everywhere. No independent source we know of publishes Yahoo as a confirmed Google ranking factor, so treat it as indirect.
