A Houzz business profile is a free professional profile on Houzz, the home renovation and design site, that lists your company in Houzz’s Find Professionals directory with your business details, project photos and reviews, and it sits next to Houzz Pro, a separate paid software subscription for running and marketing a home-industry business. Our take: set up the free profile because it is a public record of your business on a home-industry directory, keep its name, address and phone identical to everywhere else, and treat Houzz Pro as a software purchase you should price on its own merits, not as the price of being listed. This guide covers how to sign up, what is free and what is paid on Houzz’s own pages, how to edit, get reviews and delete a profile, which trades it suits, and what it honestly does for local SEO.
One note on sources: every Houzz claim below comes from Houzz’s own pages, read in November 2026. Houzz’s pricing page for Houzz Pro opened and is the source of the prices. A second pricing address, pro.houzz.com/pricing, returned a “service unavailable” error when we tried it, so we relied on the first. Where two Houzz pages describe the same thing differently, we say so.

What Houzz offers: free profile vs Houzz Pro
Houzz sells two different things under one brand, and mixing them up is the main source of confusion. Houzz’s own explanation of the difference calls Houzz “a free resource that helps anyone find home renovation inspiration and hire professionals”, and Houzz Pro “all-in-one business management and marketing software”.
| Free Houzz business profile | Houzz Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Your listing in the Houzz Find Professionals directory | Paid business-management and marketing software |
| Cost | Free | Paid subscription (prices below) |
| What you get | A business profile you can edit, project photos, reviews from clients, a place customers can find you | Estimates, invoices and online payments, 3D floor plans, takeoffs, project management, a CRM, a custom website, email marketing, a Premium Profile, advertising and lead tools |
| Commitment | None stated | Houzz says most plans are annual 12-month contracts |
| Who it is for | Any home-industry business that wants to be found | Businesses that want one system to run projects and win clients |
Houzz’s Premium Profile page also describes its community as “over 65 million homeowners and design enthusiasts” and reports more than three million home remodeling and design professionals on the platform. Those are Houzz’s own figures, not ours, and the page gives no lead volumes or conversion rates to back them. We found no Houzz page listing eligibility rules or an official list of supported trades.
How much Houzz Pro costs
At the time of writing (November 2026), Houzz’s Houzz Pro pricing page listed:
| Plan | Price shown | Users | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pro | $199 a month | 1 | Estimates, invoices and online payments, takeoffs, 3D floor plans, selections, bid management, budget management |
| Teams | Starting at $399 a month | 5 | Everything in Pro plus AI note-taking, Premium Profile, email marketing, a custom website, dedicated support |
| Enterprise | Custom quote | Unlimited | Everything in Teams plus Enterprise onboarding and support |
| Extra users | $50 per user a month | n/a | On Pro and Teams |
| Advertising package | Starts at $499 a month | n/a | Houzz shows a “Get Pricing” button, so the final price is quoted on request |
The same page mentions a “Free Plan” of Houzz Pro tools (a 3D floor planner, estimates and invoicing, which is software and not the directory profile), and says Houzz Pro is free for 30 days with “No credit card required” in the trial section. It also says the trial ends in an “annual subscription”, and Houzz’s cancellation help page states that most plans are annual 12-month contracts that cannot be cancelled early. Two details from that page matter before you start a trial:
- To stop auto-renewal you must submit the request at least 30 days before your renewal date, and you still complete the current 12-month term.
- If you miss the trial deadline, Houzz says you have 7 days after the trial ends to cancel an annual contract, and you are billed one month, with no further obligation for the rest of the contract.
Houzz’s pages disagree slightly on the trial: the pricing page says no credit card is required, while the help article on creating a profile ends with entering payment details and selecting “Start Free Trial”. The Premium Profile page does not say which plan includes it, but the pricing page lists it under Teams and Enterprise. Whatever the screen in front of you says at that moment is the number to trust.
How to create a Houzz business profile
Houzz publishes two walkthroughs, a help-center article and a guide to creating a free business account. Combined, the steps are:
- Open the sign-up. Go to pro.houzz.com/pro and register with a business email address and a password, or choose “Continue with Google”. Use an address your company controls, not a personal one.
- Add your website if you have one. Houzz says its AI can use it to fill in profile details.
- Answer the business questions. Houzz asks for the type of business, your main industry, revenue, number of employees, business name, mobile number and country, and uses the answers to suggest a package.
- Enter your profile details, then continue.
- Watch the plan screen. The help article moves to choosing a Houzz Pro plan and payment details, while the free-account guide ends at scheduling a demo. Houzz’s pages do not say clearly whether you can skip the plan step and keep only the free directory profile, so if you only want the free profile, read each screen and decline paid options rather than assuming.
- Complete the profile. Add your project photos, services, service areas and contact details. Houzz says a full profile makes it easier for potential clients to find you.
Houzz’s help article describes no separate verification step, such as a code or a document check, for the basic profile. Houzz’s Premium Profile page, by contrast, lists a “Verified License Badge” that shows state-verified licensing, so licence verification appears to belong to the paid tier. Houzz does not list eligibility rules or a category list on the pages we read, so choose the category that honestly describes your main work.
Which trades a Houzz profile suits
Houzz’s audience is homeowners planning renovation, remodeling and design projects. In our catalog, Houzz is the first site on 8 of our industry citation lists. Our catalog labels it free, meaning the basic profile costs nothing, while the Premium Profile and Houzz Pro are paid upgrades:
| Industry list | Our list |
|---|---|
| Architects | Architects citation sites |
| Building and construction | Building and construction citation sites |
| Contractors | Contractors citation sites |
| Furniture and home decor | Furniture and home decor citation sites |
| Gardening and landscaping | Gardening and landscaping citation sites |
| HVAC | HVAC citation sites |
| Plumbers | Plumbers citation sites |
| Tradespersons | Tradespersons citation sites |
Our contractors and architects lists show the full ranking for those trades. Our view, not Houzz’s: design-led and project-led trades (architects, contractors, builders, landscapers, home decor) are the natural fit, because the profile shows project photos and invites reviews from past clients. Emergency-style trades such as plumbers and HVAC appear first on our lists because Houzz is a high-profile home-industry directory with free listing, not because Houzz is where their urgent calls come from. For those businesses, the free profile is mainly a consistent citation, and Houzz Pro’s project-management tools may or may not be relevant. Our guide to Angi, Houzz and Thumbtack profiles for contractors compares the three for lead flow.
How to edit your Houzz profile
Per Houzz’s help article, click your company icon in the top right corner and select View Profile to review it, then Account Settings to edit it. To open the Houzz Pro software instead, click “Go to Houzz Pro” at the top right. Fields worth checking first:
- Business name exactly as it appears on your website and Google Business Profile.
- Address, or service area if customers do not visit you, and a phone number you actually answer.
- Website URL and a short description in plain language.
- Services and categories, and project photos from real jobs.
Houzz’s help center lists “How to reach Houzz Pro support” for problems, and says free Houzz Pro accounts get help by submitting a support ticket from the Help menu (the ? icon), with a reply from its support team within 24 business hours. For general Houzz.com profile questions, Houzz points to its Community Support request form. We did not find a Houzz page on claiming a profile someone else created, so if you suspect a duplicate or old profile of your business, ask Houzz support rather than creating a second one. Duplicates are how a business ends up with two conflicting pages, which our guide to finding and fixing duplicate listings covers.
Reviews on a Houzz profile
Houzz’s review help article describes how reviews work:
- Request them. Log in, click “Get Reviews” under your business name, add up to 50 email addresses separated by commas, check the pre-filled message and send. On iOS you can also request a review by text.
- Expect a delay. Houzz checks each submitted review for spam and false submissions, which it says can take up to 5 to 7 business days depending on volume.
- Respond. Approved reviews appear in the Review tab, where you can reply or choose a featured review (the Premium Profile page lists featured review as a Premium feature).
- Do not expect removal. Houzz’s page on negative reviews says it does not remove reviews left by genuine past clients. If you do not recognize the client or project, contact Houzz support. Houzz’s advice is to reply quickly, acknowledge the experience, stay calm and invite the client to continue offline.
Houzz reviews are separate from Google reviews, so asking happy clients for both is sensible. Our guide to getting more Google reviews covers the Google side.
How to delete your Houzz account or cancel Houzz Pro
These are two different jobs. From Houzz’s account deletion article:
| Goal | What Houzz’s pages say |
|---|---|
| Delete the account | Profile icon, Account Settings, Privacy Choices, scroll to the bottom and select Delete My Houzz Account, then confirm from the email sent to the registered address. |
| If you have a subscription | You cannot delete a Houzz.com account with an active subscription, and deleting does not cancel Houzz Pro. Cancel the subscription separately first. |
| How long it takes | Full data deletion may take up to 90 days, and during that time the email address cannot be used for a new Houzz account. |
| Can you undo it | No. Houzz says it is a permanent change, and you lose business records, ideabooks and saved content. |
| Stop Houzz Pro renewing | Submit a request in Settings under Subscriptions, or use Houzz’s cancellation request form, at least 30 days before renewal. Most plans are annual 12-month contracts. |
Deleting your Houzz account does not touch your listings on any other directory, so recheck those separately.
Does a Houzz business profile help local SEO?
We found no official statement from Google, and no independent source we trust, that a Houzz profile is a confirmed ranking factor, so this answer stays hedged. What is defensible: a Houzz profile is a genuine structured citation, a public page that carries your business name, location and contact details on a directory in the home industry. Citations like this support the consistency signal every listing does: search engines and AI assistants can compare your details across many sources to judge whether your identity is stable.
Two honest limits. First, Houzz’s own marketing about leads and AI search visibility is a sales claim, not independent evidence. Second, the biggest SEO risk on Houzz is a wrong phone number or an old name. You can see how consistent your details are across the web with the free NAP checker.
On whether to pay: the free profile delivers the citation. Houzz Pro is a software and advertising decision. If you do not need estimates, invoices and a CRM from Houzz, or you already have software you like, the paid plans are not the way to get listed.
A short Houzz checklist
- Search Houzz for your company, former names and phone number before signing up, so you do not create a duplicate.
- Use a company-controlled email, and match name, address and phone to your website and Google Business Profile.
- Read the plan and payment screens carefully, and decline paid options if you only want the free profile.
- Add real project photos, and ask past clients for reviews with the Get Reviews button.
- Save the profile URL and recheck it after a few weeks.
- If you start a Houzz Pro trial, calendar the cancellation deadline: annual terms and a 30-day notice for non-renewal apply.
Common mistakes with a Houzz profile
- Buying Houzz Pro to “get listed”. Houzz describes the free directory profile and the paid software as separate things, so the subscription is not the cost of existing on Houzz.
- Missing the trial deadline. Houzz says most plans are annual contracts, with a 7-day window after the trial ends to cancel and a 30-day notice for non-renewal.
- Creating a second profile. A duplicate splits reviews and confuses customers.
- Using a personal email. When that person leaves, so does your access. Use a company mailbox.
- Letting NAP drift. A Houzz page that shows an old phone number undermines your other listings.
Houzz alongside your other citations
Houzz is one of several free, industry-relevant profiles worth having. For the wider set, pick your country and trade in the local citation finder. A Houzz profile works best next to a complete Google Business Profile and a handful of consistent general directories.
If you want the rest of your citations handled consistently, see our citation building service. A Houzz profile you manage directly sits comfortably alongside them.
Frequently asked questions
Is a Houzz business profile free?
Yes, Houzz describes itself as a free resource for homeowners, and its own sign-up guide says a free Houzz business account lets you add your business to the Houzz Find Professionals directory. Houzz Pro is a separate paid software product. Houzz's pages do not spell out line by line which profile features are free, and its sign-up flow also pushes you toward choosing a Houzz Pro plan, so read each screen before you enter payment details.
What is the difference between Houzz and Houzz Pro?
Houzz is the free homeowner site and professional directory. Houzz Pro is paid business-management and marketing software for home-industry professionals: estimates, invoices, project management, a CRM, a custom website, email marketing, a Premium Profile and advertising. At the time of writing (November 2026), Houzz's pricing page showed Pro at $199 a month for one user and Teams from $399 a month for five users.
How much does Houzz Pro cost?
At the time of writing (November 2026), Houzz's Houzz Pro pricing page listed Pro at $199 a month (1 user), Teams starting at $399 a month (5 users, with a Premium Profile included) and Enterprise on a custom quote. Extra users were $50 a month on Pro and Teams, and a Houzz advertising package started at $499 a month. Houzz says most plans are annual 12-month contracts, so confirm the term at checkout.
How do I create a Houzz business profile?
Go to pro.houzz.com/pro and sign up with a business email and password or with Google. Houzz then asks about your business (website, industry, revenue, team size, business name, mobile number and country) and uses the answers to suggest a package. Add your profile details and project photos afterwards from your profile and Account Settings. Houzz's help article does not describe a separate identity verification step.
How do I delete my Houzz business account?
On Houzz.com, open your profile icon, choose Account Settings, then Privacy Choices, and select Delete My Houzz Account at the bottom, then confirm by email. Houzz says you cannot delete an account with an active subscription, deleting does not cancel Houzz Pro, the change is permanent, and full data deletion may take up to 90 days. Cancel any subscription first.
Can I remove a bad review from my Houzz profile?
Houzz says it does not remove reviews left by genuine past clients. If you do not recognize the client or the project, you can contact Houzz support. Houzz recommends replying quickly and calmly, inviting the client to talk offline, and asking satisfied clients for reviews. A client who made a mistake can edit their own review from their Houzz profile.
Does a Houzz profile help local SEO?
It is a legitimate citation: a public page with your business name, location and contact details on a home-industry directory, and Houzz is the first site on 8 of our industry citation lists. We found no official statement from Google that a Houzz profile is a ranking factor, so treat the benefit as indirect: consistent business data and one more place that confirms you exist. The free profile delivers that part, and a paid plan is a lead and software decision, not an SEO one.
