A Justdial business listing is described as free to create: Justdial’s own listing page, as search results show it, is titled “Get Listed for FREE on Justdial”, and the sign-up is reported to use your mobile number and a one-time password (OTP). Our take: do the free Justdial listing yourself, in one sitting, with your phone in your hand and your exact business details written down first. Treat the paid plans as a separate advertising decision, and read the renewal terms before you agree to one. This guide covers what the free listing needs, why only the owner can finish the OTP, the paid side, what to fix before you start, and where Justdial fits among the other Indian directories.

What we could verify, and what we could not

This matters more than usual, so here it is before the steps. Justdial’s servers answered our research tools with “403 Forbidden” on every page we tried on 2026-10-30: the home page, the free listing page, the advertising page, the FAQ, the claim-business page and the Justdial US page. We could not open a single Justdial page ourselves.

What we have is two kinds of material:

  • Our own catalog (first-party). We track Justdial in our directory catalog, where its status is “manual” with this note: free listing requires a mandatory mobile SMS OTP, with no email path, so a third-party service cannot finish it for the owner. We keep it as a guided step for the owner to complete. That is a fact about our build engine and our catalog, not a statement about Justdial’s whole product.
  • Search summaries of Justdial’s own pages. A web search restricted to justdial.com returned summaries of its free listing page, claim page, advertising page, terms of use, privacy policy, contact page and opt-out request page. These are secondhand, they mix current pages with old ones (one summary described the free listing page as roughly three years old), and we mark everything taken from them as “reported” below.

Where neither source answers a question, we leave it open instead of guessing. Check each step on the live page before you rely on it.

Free Justdial listing vs paid plans

The free listing and the paid products are different things that share a website. Mixing them up is the common mistake.

On prices: the summaries we saw said the advertising page shows a minimum plan price per day and a minimum plan tenure of one year, and that the price field displayed an error (“NaN/day”). Because we could not read the page, we are not repeating a figure. If you are quoted a price, ask for it in writing before you pay.

Why only the owner can finish the Justdial OTP

This is the one thing in this guide that comes from our own work, and it shapes how you should plan the job.

A mobile OTP is a code sent by text message to a phone number, and the form will not move on until it is typed in. In our catalog, Sulekha has the same note as Justdial: free listing behind a mandatory mobile SMS OTP, no email alternative. Neither can be completed by an agency or a tool without access to your phone, and we do not fake phone or ID verifications.

What that means in practice:

  • Do the sign-up when you are holding the phone that receives texts on the number you want on the listing.
  • Use the number you want customers to call. Whatever number you verify becomes part of the record, so do not use a personal mobile you would rather keep out of public view.
  • If you hire someone to prepare it, they can write your exact details and check the live page afterwards. They cannot press the final button for you.
  • If the code never arrives, do not retry in a loop. Wait, check the number you typed, and contact Justdial support if it keeps failing.

For a wider view of the same problem on other directories, see our guide to free business listing sites.

What to fix before you start

A wrong phone number on a directory is worse than a missing listing, because customers who use it reach the wrong place. Our NAP checker’s own benchmark shows how often details go wrong. Across 99 anonymous scans since 2026-09-04, 83 found the business, and 42% showed at least one mismatch. Phone was the most common at 25%, ahead of address at 22% and name at 10%. In a separate small look at 29 customer websites where we could compare the number on the site with the number the owner typed into their account, 3 differed. That is a small sample, but it is the same pattern.

Do these things first:

  1. Write one master record. Name exactly as it is on your shop board or registration, one street address, one phone number in one format. Our guide to NAP master data shows how, and what NAP means is there if the term is new.
  2. Pick the phone number deliberately. It must be able to receive a text now, and it should be the one you want answered by customers.
  3. Check what already exists. Search for your business under your current name, a former name and an old number before creating anything. Justdial is reported to have a claim page, which suggests some businesses already appear. In our pre-build audits, 28 directory rows were parked because an existing listing carried stale details (an old phone, a rebrand or a closure), rather than being rebuilt. A second Justdial record for the same shop is how you end up competing with yourself. Our guide to finding and fixing duplicate listings applies here.
  4. Run the free NAP checker to see what the open web currently shows for your business, then fix the source of any wrong detail first.
  5. Choose a category that describes what you sell. Not a list of every service and not a city name. Of the 63 locations customers added to our app since 2026-08-01, 18 left the category blank and 5 typed a compound or stuffed value. The listing form is reported to ask you to choose categories, so this is a field to think about.
  6. Prepare photos and hours. The listing form is reported to ask for both.

How to add or claim your Justdial listing

The steps below follow the reported flow. We could not click through the live form, so treat the order as a guide and follow the screens.

  1. Open the free listing page on justdial.com. The reported starting point is the “Get Listed for FREE” page at justdial.com/Free-Listing.
  2. Enter your mobile number. This is the number Justdial will send the OTP to.
  3. Enter the OTP. This is the step only you can complete. One summary places it right after the mobile number (as the claim page is described), another after the business details, so follow the order on screen.
  4. Add your business details. Name, address, hours and photos, then choose categories (reported).
  5. Look for an existing record. If your business is already on Justdial, use the claim option rather than creating a second record. The claim page is reported to use three steps: mobile number, OTP, then updating the profile.
  6. Save, then open the public page. Find the listing as a visitor would and confirm that the name, address and phone show exactly as in your master record. Until the public page shows your details, nothing is live.

A browser is enough according to the reported listing page; you do not need to install an app to create the listing.

Cancelling, removing or contacting Justdial

These are the questions people type next, and the honest answer is that we could verify none of them from an opened page. What the summaries of Justdial’s own pages say:

  • Removing a business listing: a page at justdial.com/cms/opt-out-request is reported to take removal requests and confirm ownership with a code sent to the mobile number or email on the listing, with a request form if you cannot generate the code.
  • Deleting a personal account: the privacy policy is reported to describe Settings, then Support, then Profile Deactivation in the app.
  • Cancelling a paid plan: no cancellation procedure was found. The summaries of the terms differ by version: one is reported to say subscribed services renew automatically unless the e-mandate is cancelled through Justdial’s designated electronic channels, another that listing services renew after the initial one-year term unless written notice is given at least three months before expiry. A third point, that Justdial may refuse an account deactivation until outstanding payments are settled, was described as coming from terms for other Justdial products, so we do not know whether it applies to an advertising plan.
  • Customer care: we could not open the live Contact Us page, so copy the number from it instead of from this guide.

Our take on the renewal point: a reported one-year minimum tenure plus automatic renewal means the date to remember is not the day you sign. One reported version of the terms asks for notice three months before the term ends, so the real deadline may be about nine months in. If you buy an ad plan, put both dates in your calendar, ask in writing which clause applies to you and how to stop renewal, and find out how to cancel the e-mandate with your bank. Our business listing support contacts guide explains how to make that kind of request. If the real aim is to fix a wrong listing, see closed or moved business listings first: correcting a record is usually better than deleting it.

Where Justdial fits among the other Indian directories

Justdial is one of the India-native directories in our catalog, alongside Sulekha, and it sits in a full citation set with the global anchors. Indian businesses are also a real part of our own customer base: of 144 locations in our app, 20 are in India, with 15 verified live listings among them. Those 15 are across all directories, not Justdial specifically.

A sensible order for an Indian business:

  1. Fix your master record, as above.
  2. Do the owner-only steps first: Justdial and Sulekha, which both need your phone.
  3. Add the directories that do not need your phone and keep them identical. Our India citation sites page ranks the ones we track for the country, and the local citation finder filters them by your industry.
  4. Do not confuse a B2B marketplace with a citation. IndiaMART is a different animal: in our catalog it is inactive and manual, a B2B product marketplace whose free seller sign-up is gated by a mandatory +91 mobile OTP, and not a NAP citation directory. Our IndiaMART guide covers it.
  5. Re-check after a few weeks. Directories copy from each other, so a wrong number fixed in one place can still come back from another.

The general principle is in our guide to high-authority citation sites: a handful of correct, consistent listings beat a long list of sloppy ones.

Common mistakes with a Justdial listing

  • Verifying with the wrong phone. The number you confirm becomes the number the public sees.
  • Creating a second record when one already existed. Claim it.
  • Paying before you have a corrected free listing. Advertising a wrong number is the expensive way to be wrong.
  • Not noting the renewal date on a paid plan.
  • Counting a form submission as a live listing. Open the public page and read it.
  • Letting the name differ between Justdial, your website and your Google Business Profile.

How Citation Builder fits in

We do not finish the Justdial OTP for you, and we say so rather than pretend otherwise. What we do for the rest of the set is build the listings that can be built without your phone, keep your name, address and phone identical across them, and record each live listing with its public URL and a screenshot. The listings stay yours, with no recurring fee that removes them, and the ongoing value is monitoring and a set that keeps agreeing with itself. See our citation building service for how that works across 50+ countries and 50+ industries.

Frequently asked questions

Is a Justdial business listing free?

The basic listing is described as free. Justdial's own page title in search results reads "Get Listed for FREE on Justdial", and its advertising page is reported to sell the paid products (featured listings, banner ads, lead packages and the Standard, Pro and Premium ad plans) separately from that free listing. Justdial blocked our research tools, so we could not open those pages ourselves and this comes from search summaries of them. One summary described the free listing page as roughly three years old, so confirm it is still free on the live page. Treat anything that asks you for money during sign-up as the paid side, and read what you are agreeing to.

How do I register on Justdial?

The reported flow uses your mobile number and a one-time password (OTP), plus your business name, address, hours, photos and categories. The summaries we saw disagree on the order: the claim page is described as mobile number, then OTP, then profile details, while the free listing page is described as details first and OTP after. Because the OTP goes to a phone, only the person holding that phone can finish it. We could not open the live form, so check the order of the steps on the page itself. If your business already appears, look for the claim route instead of creating a second record.

How much does Justdial cost?

We cannot give you a trustworthy figure. Justdial's advertising page is reported to show its minimum plan price per day, and the minimum plan tenure is reported as one year. The summary we saw showed the price field as a display error, and we could not open the page ourselves, so we are not printing a number. Ask for the price in writing before you pay.

How do I delete a Justdial business listing or account?

Justdial is reported to run an opt-out request page at justdial.com/cms/opt-out-request that confirms ownership with a code sent to the mobile number or email on the listing, with a separate request form if you cannot generate the code. For a personal account, its privacy policy is reported to describe Settings, then Support, then Profile Deactivation in the app. We could not open these pages, so confirm the current route there. Deleting a listing is rarely the best fix: a corrected listing beats a gap.

How do I cancel a Justdial subscription?

We found no cancellation procedure we could verify. The summaries of Justdial's terms differ by version. One is reported to say subscribed services renew automatically for a further tenure unless the e-mandate (the standing bank payment instruction) is cancelled through Justdial's designated electronic channels. Another, for listing services, is reported to say the service renews after the initial one-year term unless written notice is given at least three months before expiry. We could not open either, and the contract or invoice you signed is the document that controls. So ask Justdial in writing which clause applies to you, and check the auto-pay mandate with your bank. Do this well before the renewal date, not after.

How do I contact Justdial customer care?

Use the Contact Us page on justdial.com. We could not open the live contact page, and the summaries we saw were old pages mixed with current ones, so we are not printing a phone number here: copy it from the live contact page, and prefer a written request when you need a record of what you asked for. Our guide to business listing support contacts covers the general approach.

Why does Justdial need my phone to verify, and can an agency do it for me?

The free listing is reported to start with a mobile OTP. In our own catalog we class Justdial as a manual, owner-completed step because the free listing requires a mandatory SMS OTP with no email path, so no third-party service can finish it on your behalf. An agency can prepare your exact business details and check the result, but the code has to be entered by the person who receives it.

Does Justdial replace Google Business Profile?

No. It is a separate directory with its own data and its own audience. A Justdial listing is one citation that has to agree with your Google Business Profile and your website. Keep the details identical in every place.
