An Alignable business profile is a free page on alignable.com, a referral network for small business owners that accepts only businesses located and operating in the United States or Canada, where you list your business name, address, phone number, website and services so other members can find you and refer customers to you. Our take: set one up for referrals and local networking, but treat it as a weak citation, not a core one, until you have confirmed on your own profile that it is publicly readable and shows your phone number and address. Alignable is not a directory in our catalog and is not part of any build set we run: we treat it as a referral network, and what we found when we checked it in October 2026 supports that.

Alignable Business Profile: Free vs Paid, Worth It?, illustrated cover

What an Alignable business profile holds

Alignable calls itself an online referral network for small business owners, and the profile is built for that job. According to its help center, the sections include business name, logo, banner, community, About Us, industry and category, search tags, ideal customers, the businesses you would like to partner with, website, products and services, promotions, a gallery, phone number, address, team members and recommendations.

For citation purposes only five of those matter: the business name, address, phone number, website and category.

What we checked on Alignable (October 2026)

On October 20, 2026 we looked at Alignable’s public side from a connection outside the US and Canada, using curl with a normal desktop browser user agent, a page-fetch tool and a real Chrome window, plus the site’s robots.txt and help center.

CheckWhat we saw
Homepage and a community directory page (the North Royalton, OH directory), logged outHTTP 200. Readable with no login; a Join Today banner and a Sign in link, but no wall
Meta robots tag on the directory pageNone present. The canonical URL points to itself, and the page lists its profile URLs in structured data
Links from the directory to member profilesOrdinary internal links, not nofollow. Only the Refer buttons carry nofollow
NAP shown in the directory listingsBusiness name, owner name, category, city and state, and a short description. No phone number and no street address in the HTML
robots.txtGooglebot, Bingbot, Applebot, DuckDuckBot, Yandex and other named search crawlers may crawl everything except a short list of private paths (such as /biz, /dashboard, /claims and /onboarding). Every other crawler is disallowed across the whole site
Individual member profile pages (3 profiles, 5 requests across curl, a fetch tool and real Chrome)HTTP 429 Too Many Requests every time, with a Retry-After of 172,800 seconds (48 hours)
Meta robots, website-link rel and NAP fields on a profile pageNot verified. We could not retrieve a profile’s HTML, so we make no claim either way
A profile in web searchA general web search for one profile’s business name returned that profile’s URL, so at least some profiles are discoverable in search. That tells us nothing about what the page contains

Alignable’s help center says a 429 is an automatic hold that appears when its system sees an unusually high volume of page visits, including from tools that automate page loading. We made only a handful of requests, so we cannot say whether our location, our request pattern or anti-automation rules caused it. What it does show is that, at least from where we tested, profile pages are not freely machine-readable the way an ordinary directory page is.

You can check your own profile in two minutes. Open it in a private browser window while logged out, view the page source, and search for a robots meta tag and for rel=“nofollow” on your website link. Then confirm your phone number and address appear in the visible page text.

How to create an Alignable business profile

These steps come from Alignable’s sign-up, eligibility and profile-editing help pages:

  1. Confirm you qualify. You need to work for or own a legitimate, registered business located in the US or Canada, and you must be in the US or Canada yourself. Employees are welcome if they have the company’s permission.
  2. Go to alignable.com, click Sign Up and enter a business email.
  3. Enter your name, business name and business address. Alignable’s guide says that if you work from home, or your customers are mostly in a different area, you can select an address in the area where you do the most business.
  4. Complete verification if asked. You may be asked to verify through SMS or manual review. A VPN or a non-US, non-Canadian IP address can trigger an automatic denial. For manual review Alignable accepts official documents such as an LLC or incorporation registration or a business insurance certificate, and for employees a W-2, W-4 or pay stub, but not business cards or letterhead.
  5. Pick your industry. Start typing and choose a suggestion, or enter a custom name.
  6. Answer the referral questions. These cover the referrals you want, where your customers are and up to five types of businesses that work with you. The address book import that follows is optional.
  7. Finish the profile. Add a logo, a headshot, a banner, an About Us section, products and services, and your website and phone number.

Alignable publishes the full steps in its sign-up guide. One caution for citation purposes: entering an address where you do the most business can put a different address on your profile than the one on your website and Google listing. If you want the profile to count as a citation at all, enter the same details you use everywhere else, and use the hide-address option below if you need privacy.

Claiming or recovering an Alignable business profile

The help pages we read describe creating your own account. They do not describe a separate step for claiming a listing that Alignable built for you, so do not assume one exists. What they do document:

  • A colleague already made a profile for your business. Alignable’s guidance is to deactivate your own account and ask your colleague to add you as an admin or team member, so the business keeps a single profile.
  • You still have the email the account was registered with. Reset the password or use the single-user sign-in email.
  • The person who created the account has left and you have no access to their email. Alignable runs an Account Recovery Form. It asks for a contact email, your business website URL, the profile URL and one proof document, such as a pay stub from the last three months, a certificate of incorporation if you are the owner, or a business card or letterhead (unlike sign-up manual review).

Free Guest plan vs paid plans

Alignable starts every new account on a free Guest plan and sells paid membership on top of it. At the time of writing (October 2026), Alignable’s own pricing article lists these plans:

PlanPrice at the time of writingWhat it adds
GuestFree5 connection credits a month, messaging, group posts, recommendations, events
Basic$29 per month15 connection credits a month, Alignable 360 access, analytics on who viewed your profile
Premium$49 per month25 credits a month, notes and tags on contacts, advanced visibility, a contact button on your profile, priority support
Premium+$89 per month75 credits a month, with the Premium features

Alignable also sells community newsletter sponsorships, priced by community. It says it offers no free trials, gives 20% off Premium and Premium+ to nonprofits and veteran-owned businesses, and does not offer refunds as a standard policy, though it may consider case-by-case exceptions such as a permanent closure. Prices and plan names change, so confirm them on Alignable’s own page before you pay.

Notice what the plans sell: connection credits, analytics, support and group roles. The plan descriptions promise advanced visibility on Alignable and say nothing about search engines, so we would not expect paying to turn the profile into a stronger citation.

Does an Alignable business profile work as a citation?

A local citation earns its keep when three things are true: the page is public, search engines can crawl it, and it shows your name, address and phone number the same way everywhere else does. Here is how Alignable measures up on what we could confirm.

  • Public and crawlable. The community directory pages are public, and robots.txt lets the major search crawlers reach them. Individual profile pages returned a rate-limit error to every request we made, so we cannot vouch for them.
  • NAP on the page. Alignable’s help center says the contact section of a profile shows your address, phone number and website, and that the street address is visible by default, though it does not say whether logged-out visitors see that section. The directory listings we read show only business name, category and city. Hiding the street address, which Alignable offers, removes it entirely.
  • A useful link. We could not read the website link’s attributes on a profile, so we do not assume it passes any value. For how citations and links differ, see citations versus backlinks.

Our read: an Alignable profile is a networking asset first and an unproven citation second. Keep its details accurate, but do not spend your citation effort here ahead of directories whose public pages you can verify. The free NAP checker shows what the open web currently says about your business.

Is an Alignable business profile worth it?

It is worth a short setup on the free Guest plan in these cases:

  • You are a US or Canadian business that gets work from referrals, such as a tradesperson, an accountant, a consultant or a marketing provider.
  • You want a structured way to meet other local owners and send each other recommendations.

It is a poor use of time if you are a consumer-facing business chasing map-pack rankings, and a business outside the US and Canada cannot join at all. For those goals, spend the hours on the citation sites that fit your market, starting with our United States citation sites or Canadian citation sites pages, or let the local citation finder rank them for your country and industry.

Editing, hiding and removing your profile

  • Edit your address. Open My Business, choose Visit My Business Profile and click Edit next to the address. Changing your town, state or ZIP code more than twice needs Alignable’s approval, usually decided within 24 hours.
  • Hide your street address. Per Alignable’s address-hiding guide, tick Hide Address in the address section and save. Your city, state and ZIP stay visible and you stay in your local community. If your business is home-based, this is the setting to use, the same trade-off covered in service-area business citations.
  • Cancel a paid plan. Go to My Business, Account, My Membership, then Cancel Subscription. You keep the paid features until the end of the billing cycle, then drop to the free Guest tier.
  • Remove the profile. Alignable has no feature to hide a profile from other businesses. The only route is permanent deactivation: confirm your identity with a code, choose the permanent deactivation option, give a reason and enter your password. Only the primary account holder can do it, and paid plans and sponsorships must be canceled first (Alignable says to wait until the billing cycle ends).

Getting your Alignable profile right: a short checklist

  • Use your real business name, not a generic description, so members can search for it.
  • Match your NAP. Name, address and phone should read the same as your website and Google Business Profile.
  • Decide on the street address on purpose. Show it if customers visit you, hide it if you work from home.
  • Stay on Guest until you have a specific reason to pay.

Common mistakes with an Alignable profile

  • Counting it as a core citation without checking. If your profile is unreadable, thin or missing a phone number when you view it logged out, it is doing a networking job, not a citation job.
  • Using a different address from your website and Google listing. Alignable lets you pick the area where you do the most business, but the mismatch is a NAP problem you will have to clean up later.
  • Creating a duplicate profile. If a colleague already has one, get added as an admin instead.
  • Forgetting about it after a move or rebrand. Update it when your address, phone or name changes.

Alignable alongside your other citations

Alignable sits closer to Nextdoor than to a classic directory: people find you through relationships. The free, crawlable directories still do the heavy lifting for NAP consistency, and our guide to free business listing sites shows where to start.

Citation Builder builds and monitors listings on the directories that fit your country and industry, records each live listing with its public URL and a screenshot, and keeps your NAP consistent across them. Alignable stays where this guide puts it: a referral network worth a profile if you are in the US or Canada, separate from the citation set. See our citation building service for how the rest of your listings are handled.

Frequently asked questions

What is an Alignable business profile?

An Alignable business profile is the page that represents your business inside Alignable, a referral network for small business owners in the United States and Canada. It holds your business name, community, category, About Us text, products and services, and a contact section with your address, phone number and website. Its main job is to help other members decide whether to connect with you and refer customers your way.

Is an Alignable business profile free?

Yes. A new account starts on Alignable's free Guest plan, which Alignable says is free and always will be, with a small monthly allowance of connection credits plus messaging, group posts and recommendations. Paid plans at the time of writing (October 2026) cost $29, $49 and $89 per month and add networking tools such as more connection credits and profile analytics.

How do I create or claim an Alignable business profile?

Go to alignable.com, click Sign Up, enter a business email, then add your name, business name and business address, and complete the SMS or manual verification if asked. The business must be a legitimate registered business located in the US or Canada. The help pages we read describe no separate step for claiming a pre-built listing: if a colleague already made a profile, ask to be added as an admin, and if the account's creator has left, use Alignable's Account Recovery Form.

Does an Alignable business profile help local SEO as a citation?

Treat it as unproven. A citation has to be public, crawlable and show your name, address and phone number consistently, and in our October 2026 check we could confirm Alignable's public directory pages but not individual profile pages, which returned a rate-limit error to our requests. Alignable also lets you hide your street address, which removes it as a citation. It is worth having for referrals, but we would not count it toward your core citation set.

How do I cancel or remove my Alignable profile?

To stop paying, open My Business, then Account, then My Membership, and choose Cancel Subscription; you keep paid benefits until the billing cycle ends and then move to the free Guest tier. Alignable has no option to hide a profile, so removing it means deactivating the account, which only the primary account holder can do and which cannot be undone. Any paid plan or sponsorship has to be canceled first, and Alignable says to wait until the billing cycle ends before deactivating.

Is Alignable worth it for a small business?

It is worth a short setup if you are a US or Canadian business that gets work through referrals and local relationships, such as trades, professional services and B2B providers. It is a weak substitute for citation sites, because its value comes from member connections rather than search listings. Alignable offers no free trial and, as a standard policy, no refunds, so start on the free Guest plan.

Can a business outside the US or Canada join Alignable?

No. Alignable says only businesses located and operating in the United States or Canada can be members, and the person representing the business must be located there too. Sign-ups from other locations, or through a VPN, can be denied automatically. If you operate elsewhere, put your effort into directories that serve your own country.
