Place ID
The unique identifier Google gives each place in Google Maps, used to build a direct review link and to reference a business unambiguously.
A Place ID is a text identifier (often starting with ChIJ) that Google assigns to a place in its maps database. It stays with the place record, so it is the reliable way to point at one exact business instead of a search.
Its most common use in local SEO is the direct review link: the review form URL takes the Place ID, which is why a review link sent to customers lands on the right profile only if the Place ID belongs to your verified, non-duplicate record.
