The 14 best citation sites for Accountants
Most lists of accountant directories never say which ones cost money. We opened the signup page of the twelve directories in our catalog with accountant, accounting or bookkeeper in the name: four are free or freemium, six charge a one-time fee, and two would not tell us.
14 niche directories · 13 free · 4 built for you
Build these citations freeRanked by relevance to accountants, not by size. DR is the domain rating stored in our live catalog, and Free marks a directory that accepts a free listing.

Start free →The ranked list below shows the four accounting directories we confirmed as free or freemium on their own signup pages (AccountantsBook, AccountingFirms, AccountantFirms and BookKeepersCentral, all UK-focused) followed by the general anchors an accounting firm should hold. The six accounting directories that charge a one-time fee, and the two we could not verify, are deliberately left out; check each signup page for a fee before you use any site from the wider financial-services list.

Best accountants citation sites by country
Merge these niche directories with the top citation sites in your market.
Accountants get a lot of directory invitations, and the fee is rarely on the first page you see. This page sorts the directories in our catalog with accountant, accounting or bookkeeper in the name by the one fact that matters before you fill in a form: does the signup page ask for money? Local citations, the mentions of your firm's name, address and phone on third-party sites, still need to match everywhere, so the cheapest way to cover the ground is to start with the free options and add the general business anchors every firm needs. We checked each site on 30 October 2026 using its own add-listing or signup page, and we say plainly where we could not read one. The page ranks 14 sources in total: four accounting-specific directories we could confirm are free or freemium, plus the general anchors an accounting firm should hold. For the wider financial picture see our guide to citation sites for financial services and the local SEO guide for accountants.
What we found when we read every accountant directory's signup page
Our catalog holds twelve directories with "accountant", "accounting" or "bookkeeper" in the name. We opened each one with a plain request that identifies itself, then read the page where a firm adds itself. The result splits cleanly:
- Free or freemium (4): AccountingFirms.co.uk says a firm can "create an impressive, detailed profile for FREE" and receive a link to its website. AccountantsBook.co.uk has a Free plan (one office, services listed "without links", website link included on the plan card) and paid Premium plans. AccountantFirms.co.uk and BookKeepersCentral.co.uk each say an add gets "a free listing" in their database.
- One-time fee (6): USA Accountants, AccountantsUp.com and Reputable Accountants show "Listing Fee: $19.95 USD (one-time payment)" on their signup pages. Excellent Accountants, AccountantsUp.co.uk and UK Accounting Firms show a GBP 14.95 one-time fee. All six show a permanent, non-expiring listing and a 60-day money-back guarantee on their signup pages.
- Could not verify (2): AccountantFinder.com answered our request only with a robot check, so there was nothing to read. LocalAccountantFirm.com lists US accountants (its California page alone says 9,610 businesses), but the only add path we could see was a sign-in dashboard that states nothing about cost.
We keep only the first group on this page. A fee is not a reason to avoid a site, but a directory that charges to list is a different decision from a free profile, and a list that mixes them hides the choice.
Our take: read the fee before the form, because the site name will not tell you
Six of the twelve charge, and nothing in their names says so, and on the two signup pages we read in detail (USA Accountants and UK Accounting Firms) the listing fee appears after the form fields (business name, website, email, password), not before them. The three US-dollar sites and the three sterling sites show the same fee wording, the same permanent-listing line and the same 60-day refund promise, and the two we read in detail also share the same optional "Featured" add-ons. Our rule of thumb for an accounting firm: open the signup page, find the price line before typing your details, and pay only when the directory does something a free profile cannot, such as a link in the services list or more than one office.
AccountantsBook shows how the free-versus-paid line can sit inside one site. On its plan cards the Free plan covers one office, lists services without links and includes a website link; the Premium plans list unlimited offices and services without the "without links" note. If your firm has a single office, the free plan card covers the core citation (name, address, phone and website link); we did not sign up, so we have not tested it.
Every free niche option we could verify is UK-focused
All four free or freemium accounting directories describe themselves as UK services, and two of them say so on the form: when we opened the add pages for AccountantFirms.co.uk and BookKeepersCentral.co.uk from outside the UK, both stated that, because of earlier spam, adding or editing a company requires a UK location. A firm in the United States, Canada, Australia or Ireland therefore has no free accounting-specific directory on this page that we can confirm accepts it (AccountingFirms.co.uk and AccountantsBook.co.uk state no eligibility rule, but we did not test them), and the US-named sites we read charge a one-time fee.
That is a finding, not a gap to paper over with a longer list. If your firm is outside the UK, put your effort into the general anchors below plus your country's core directories, and treat any paid accounting directory as optional. One caution on trust: when we read the AccountantFirms.co.uk homepage on 30 October 2026, its "recently added" list of eight included businesses that are not accountants (a roofing company, a chauffeur service and a press-release service among them). We saw nothing like that on the BookKeepersCentral.co.uk homepage. A mixed list does not make a free profile worthless, but it is a reason to read what any paid upgrade adds before buying it.
Consistency does more for an accounting firm than the number of listings
Clients choose an accountant on trust and then check the details: the phone number on the directory has to be the phone number on your website. In our free NAP checker, 99 anonymous scans since 4 September 2026 found the business in 83 cases; 42% of the scans showed at least one mismatch (phone 25%, address 22%, name 10%) and 60% were missing from OpenStreetMap. Those scans cover every business type, not only accountants, but the pattern is the one an accounting firm should expect: the failure is rarely "not listed anywhere", it is "listed three times with two different numbers".
The same discipline applies on your own site. schema.org has a dedicated type for your trade, AccountingService, described on the vocabulary page as "Accountancy business" and nested under FinancialService and LocalBusiness. In a small sample of 64 customer homepages we read (every business type, so treat it as indicative), 34 had a LocalBusiness-type block and 9 of those used the generic LocalBusiness type instead of a specific one. Use the specific type and keep the details identical to your listings; our guide to LocalBusiness schema types and the schema generator show how.
The general anchors every accounting firm should hold alongside the niche sites
The accounting-specific directories are small. The listings that decide whether a prospect or an AI assistant can confirm your firm sit on the general platforms, so this page also ranks the anchors already in our catalog for financial firms: Apple Business Connect, LinkedIn, Facebook, Yelp, Trustpilot, Foursquare, OpenStreetMap, ProvenExpert, Brownbook and Bing Places. Some of them need you to verify ownership yourself, and Google Business Profile and Apple Business Connect are never posted for you; treat those as owner steps. If you have moved or rebranded, clear out old entries first, because in our view a stale accounting listing does more harm than none: see closed or moved business listings and how to find and fix duplicate listings.
How Citation Builder fits an accounting firm
Citation Builder creates and submits your firm to the free business directories in our network where a structured submission is supported, using one set of details so the name, address and phone match on every listing. We do not promise that the four niche directories above are in your build set: whether a given site is built for you depends on its form, so check your dashboard, and complete any listing that needs your own verification yourself. The listings we build are permanent and owned by you, with no recurring fee that removes them if you stop paying; an active subscription adds new citations as you open offices or services and re-checks that listings stay live. For the done-for-you side, see the citation building service for accountants.
Citation sites for accountants: FAQ
Are there free directories made for accountants?
Yes, but we only confirmed UK-focused ones. On their own pages, AccountingFirms.co.uk offers a free profile, AccountantsBook.co.uk has a Free plan with paid Premium upgrades, and AccountantFirms.co.uk and BookKeepersCentral.co.uk each offer a free listing. We read these on 30 October 2026.
Do accountant directories charge to list?
Some do. Six accounting-named directories we read show a one-time listing fee on their signup page: $19.95 USD on the .com sites and GBP 14.95 on the .co.uk sites, with a permanent listing and a 60-day money-back promise. Prices can change, so check the signup page before paying.
Can an accounting firm outside the UK use the free accountant directories?
Not reliably. AccountantFirms.co.uk and BookKeepersCentral.co.uk state that adding or editing a company requires a UK location. AccountingFirms.co.uk and AccountantsBook.co.uk describe UK firms and do not state an eligibility rule, so they may accept others, but they are built for UK searches.
Which citations matter most for an accountant?
The general anchors matter more than the niche sites: Google Business Profile, Apple Business Connect, Bing Places, Facebook, LinkedIn, Foursquare and OpenStreetMap, with your name, address and phone identical everywhere. Add the free accounting directories after those, and only pay for one when it offers something a free profile does not.
Which schema type should an accountant use?
AccountingService, which schema.org describes as an accountancy business and which sits under FinancialService and LocalBusiness. It is more specific than the generic LocalBusiness type. Keep its name, address and phone identical to your listings.
Does Citation Builder submit my firm to these accountant directories?
Not necessarily. We build the free directories in our network where a structured submission is supported, and we do not promise that any particular niche site is in your build set. Google Business Profile and Apple Business Connect are never posted for you. The listings we build are permanent and owned by you, and an active subscription keeps adding and checking them.
